Detonations, drugs, and loud music building up to an orgasmic moment are, for dromologist Paul Virilio, forms that evoke the picnoleptic moments that we experienced in our childhood. It is these moments of an absence of consciousness that apparently make us forget the passing of time and the weight of existence.

The video work Surf makes use of footage found on the Internet in order to reconstruct New Year’s eve in Sinaloa (Mexico), where every year certain groups of people meet in public spaces to celebrate the beginning of the new year by shooting firearms into the air and by driving around in circles with the one aim of making their tires screech.
