Walls are membranes in the photo installation Endoskopie. Mario Asef believes we all have the power to see through walls given the simple fact that Modernism has reduced the wall to a mathematical abstraction.

The top floor of the Palais Thurn & Taxis in Bregenz, Austria serves two different purposes. The interior wall, which runs parallel to and is set in about two meters from the exterior facade wall, divides the room into exhibition space and storage area.

Mario Asef took photographs of the exhibition pedestals in the storage area, and installed them in corresponding locations on the walls of the exhibition space. The photographs functioned as openings or windows, revealing to the viewer the space hidden behind the wall.

During the exhibition visitors could also access the storage area.
